Lord of the Fireflies

For the first time in years Star Wars has been knocked off the top spot of favourite science fiction film of all time, as voted for by the general public.
I’m a little ambivalent about this. As much as I enjoyed Serenity – and Firefly before it – I just don’t think it was a great film. Sure it was a fun, light hearted film, but it is by no means the best science fiction film ever.

Serenity is a a fun film that does what most TV series to film conversions rarely make; sense to those not familiar with the TV series.  I fully blame this high position on the relentless efforts of  browncoats. I’m not denying that Serenity should be in the top ten, I just don’t think it should be at the top of the pile.

Anyway, for what it’s worth I’ve listed the full top ten below, take a look and make your own mind up.

1. Serenity
2. Star Wars
3. Blade Runner
4. Planet of the Apes
5. The Matrix
6. Alien
7. Forbidden Planet
8. 2001: A Space Odyssey
9. The Terminator
10. Back to the Future
